School of Biological Sciences, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Narendrapur Campus dedicated to teaching and advanced research in Medical Biotechnology, invites applications from outstanding students with strong academic records for the position of Research Fellow leading to a Ph.D. degree in the department of Biomedical Science and Technology for the academic year 2025-26.

Essential Qualification / Eligibility

  • Students having an MSc/B.Tech. in Biotechnology or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences and allied subjects (Botany / Zoology / Physiology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Bioinformatics) with at least 60% marks.
  • Candidates awaiting final results may also apply; however, if shortlisted, they have to produce their final mark sheet on the interview date, failing which they will not be allowed for the interview.
  • The candidates should have qualified in CSIR-UGC/DBT/ICMR (JRF), or should have any other fellowship from Government sources (such as an INSPIRE awardee, or a fellowship from any sponsored project) at the time of application.

Interview Requirements

The CSIR-UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE NET awardee will have to appear for the interview and they should produce all the original testimonials during the interview.

Research Disciplines under the Faculties

Dr. Dipak Manna

Dipak Manna is a Ramalingaswami Fellow and Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Science and Technology, School of Biological Sciences, RKMVERI. His research interest is primarily focused on Parasitology/Infectious Disease and development of Diagnostics for Amoebic pathogen.

Research Topics:

  • Development of Strip-Based Diagnostics for the Detection of Entamoeba and deadly Free-living Amebae.
  • Characterization of mechanistic function of the encystation-specific transcription factor ERM-BP in Entamoeba and identifying drugs against Entamoeba cyst.
  • Deciphering the molecular mechanism of metAP2 mediated drug target in deadly Free-Living Amoebae (FLA).
